This TV Drama series focuses on three charming witches, the feuding Halliwell sisters --flirty but serious museum curator Prue (Shannen Doherty); conspiracy buff Phoebe (Alyssa Milano); and Piper, the middle sister that always seems to be the mediator (Holly Marie Combs). The supernatural siblings inherit their grandmother's San Francisco manor, learn they came from a witch coven, experiment with witchcraft, and discover they've been targeted by various warlocks and other evil entities. An ancient, antique green covered book rests at the bottom of the trunk in a thick pile of dust. Phoebe reaches in, takes out the book, 'The Book of Shadows'. Phoebe opens the front cover to see a centuries old woodcarving of coven of three women gathered around a circle, casting spells. And, on the first page an elaborately scrolled incantation. "Hear now the words of the witches. The secrets we hid in the night. The oldest of spells are invoked here. The great gift of magic is sought."
As the Halliwell sisters begin to discover, the Book of Shadows is more than just an antique publication in their attic. The book foretells the arrival of the three sisters called The Charmed Ones, the most powerful of a long line of good witches. While the legend proclaims them as the protectors of the innocent, it also warns of warlocks and evil beings (taking the forms of everyday people) who will stop at nothing to steal their powers. When siblings Prue, Piper and Phoebe begin to learn more about the book, their heritage and the unique powers that have been bestowed upon them, they must set aside their differences in order to stand together, knowing that they only have themselves to rely upon.
Charmed explores the relationship between three different sisters complicated by the discovery of supernatural powers that each possesses and consequences they share by keeping this family secret away from any outsiders as they find their respective ways in the world.
Season 4-
The three Halliwell sisters were always different, not just from the world around them, but also from each other. Though bound together by blood and destiny, these twenty-something women could not have been more different. Yet, the discovery that the three sisters were powerful good witches, foretold as the Charmed Ones, created a bond that reached far beyond petty sisterly grudges, and they banded together to keep their otherworldly witchcraft a secret and vanquish all comers.
At the end of last season, Phoebe (Alyssa Milano, Who's The Boss?, Melrose Place) and Piper (Holly Marie Combs, Picket Fences) suffered a devastating demonic attack and lost their oldest sister Prue in the battle. Now, with the addition of a reluctant Paige, the reconstructed trio must attempt to overcome their pain and learn to deal with their new places in the reformulated family.
Newest to the Halliwell fold, Paige was raised by adoptive parents and always felt that there was something different about her. In the search for her birth parents, she learned that she was abandoned at birth at a local church, the result of a clandestine love between Phoebe and Piper's mother and a "Whitelighter" guardian angel. This ancestry resulted in her power to move things with her mind as Prue could and the added ability to "orb" in and out between planes. Paige's more experienced sisters help her harness the power in their battle against evil.
The free-spirited and eccentric Phoebe has always enjoyed the privileges that come with being the youngest. Now, she has to relinquish that role to Paige. Having graduated from college last year, she is working on gaining maturity as well as honing her martial arts skills and her ability to levitate. Phoebe's relationship with half-human, half-demon Cole (Julian McMahon, Profiler) continues to intensify, yet the reality that he is on the run puts their romance and their lives in constant peril.
Former middle child and usually the peacekeeper of the three, Piper is now thrust into the role of oldest sibling. Still juggling their successful nightclub with her recent marriage to the girls' Whitelighter, Leo (Brian Krause, Sleepwalkers), Piper seeks the inner strength to lead and look out for her two sisters. Her power to freeze time has evolved also to the ability to explode an object or demon at will.

Season 3-
Last year, as Prue (Shannen Doherty, "Satans School for Girls," "Mallrats," "Beverly Hills, 90210"), Piper (Holly Marie Combs, "Picket Fences") and Phoebe (Alyssa Milano, "Melrose Place," "Fear," "Whos The Boss?") battled for the lives, they discovered that being The Charmed Ones has a price far greater than they imagined. Having inherited their mothers obligation to save innocent souls through witchcraft, theres little time left for guy commitments. This season, as their powers continue to grow, they find themselves targeted for death by The Council, an all-knowing, all-powerful source of evil. Add to this dark menace a new assortment of warlocks and demons seeking to steal their powers, and its easy to understand why staying alive ranks high on the Halliwells list of "Things To Do."
Despite the conflicts that arise from being Pipers boyfriend, "Whitelighter" Leo (Brian Krause, "Mind Games," "Return to the Blue Lagoon") often finds himself in the role of their guardian angel. And as the only mortal who knows their secret, Detective Morris (Dorian Gregory, "Baywatch Nights"), does his best to keep his three favorite witches out of harms way. With all the forces of evil stacked against them this season, these spellbinding sisters will need all the help they can get.
Here is what happened on the last eppy is season 3:
The girls save Dr. Griffis, from a demon named Shafts. Phoebe goes to the attic for a vanquishing spell, Shafts bursts through the door and blasts Piper and Prue through a wall. He tries to kill Dr. Griffis but Phoebe chants her spell making Shafts disappear, she then summons Leo to heal Prue and Piper. Prue feels that Shafts is still alive, so she and Piper search for him. He attacks and Piper uses her power to blow him up, unbeknownst to them, the scene is caught on tape by a news reporter. The girls tell Phoebe what happened and convince Griffis to keep their secret. Phoebe wants to use a potion on Cole to destroy his evil side and asks her sisters to send her to Cole. She's face to face with Cole and he grabs her by the throat, she smashes the potion on his back and he kisses her. At a television station, the reporter and her boss decide to air the tape again and get an exclusive interview. At the police station Darryl is accosted by his boss and sees the broadcast about the Halliwells, he calls the girls and tells them that their secret is out. The girls are still not sure they defeated Shafts and go to the hospital to save Griffis. As they take him to safety, Shafts attacks and they finally vanquish him, but the whole thing is caught on the news again. A mob surrounds the manor and the girls find out that Griffis is giving a TV interview. Leo tells them the only way to fix this is to contact the Demon Tempest and have him turn back time. At that moment a crazy person, Alice Hicks, barges into the house and says she wants to join their coven. Prue uses her power and throws her out. The girls tell Leo to find Phoebe and ask Cole to find Tempest. Leo doesn't want to go down below, because he won't be able to hear them if they need help. Cole tells Phoebe, The Source has arrived and she has to leave. Leo orbs in and tells them they've been exposed and they need Tempest's help. Cole says he doesn't have the power to summon Tempest, but The Source does. Leo suggests they ask The Source for help since the demon world has also been exposed. Cole visits The Source and The Source gives Cole a deal. He'll order Tempest to turn back time, if Phoebe stays below and crosses to the dark side. Cole argues that she'll never do it, The Source counters, "Even to save the life of her sister." Cole tells Leo and Phoebe the news and Phoebe tells Leo to check on her sisters. Prue and Piper are barricading the house, when Alice Hicks shoots Piper. Piper is injured and Prue calls Leo, but he can't hear her, so Prue takes Piper to the hospital. The crowd surrounds Prue's car and she uses her power to move everyone out of her way. They get to the hospital and Piper dies. Leo orbs in and Prue tells him that he has to fix this. Leo tells Phoebe, Piper is dead. Phoebe accepts the deal on one condition, Cole must warn Piper and Prue about Shafts or they're already dead. After the deal is set, The Source tells his minion to kill Phoebe and prevent Cole from leaving. Time is reversed, Prue, Piper and Dr. Griffis are at the manor for the first time. Shafts comes into the house and attacks the girls, Phoebe is not there to send Shafts away or to call Leo to heal her sisters. The demon kills Dr. Griffis and leaves Prue and Piper to die.
It turns out PIper lives and Prue lives and Phoebe returns to LA alive. |
